Know Their Rights: What Parents Need to Know about Transgender Children and the Law
Workshop Description
Despite the Trump administration’s insistence to the contrary, transgender and gender nonconforming youth have rights. And, as advocates for their children, parents need to know what those rights are and how to ensure that those rights are not ignored. Drawing from the presenter’s experience, this workshop will provide an overview of common legal issues affecting transgender and gender nonconforming youth and offer practical tools parents can use to address those issues. The topics covered will include correcting ID documents, discrimination in schools and work, and transition-related care.
