Discussion is about Genital, Chest, Gynaecologic, and Facial surgeries addressing topics below:
1. Overview of surgery options for MtF and FtM, and gender non-binary surgeries
2. Requirements for surgery (from both insurance and best-practices standpoints)
3. Preparing for surgery
4. Decision-making considerations for each type of surgery, and the consequences of each (e.g. vaginoplasty with/without a canal; phalloplasty with or without urethral lengthening or vaginal preservation; fertility preservation)
5. What to expect post-surgery
6. Surgical complications
6. Important considerations pre and post-surgery for FAMILIES
7. For CARE PROVIDERS: Potential surgery-related pitfalls in care in the pre and after surgery periods to be alert for, and suggestions for how to manage

The workshop will include a panel discussion (Q & A with: Genital Surgeon, Plastic Surgeon, Gynecologic Surgeon, ENT surgeon, and Transgender Surgery Program Nurse Practitioner)

Maurice Marcel Garcia, MD, MAS is Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and Associate Clinical Professor of Urology (Adjunct) in the Department of Urology, and Department of Anatomy, at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He completed 3 clinical fellowships in Andrology/Sexual Medicine and Neurourology, MtF gender affirming surgery, and FtM gender affirming surgery. Dr. Garcia also completed a 2-year Master’s Degree in Clinical Research in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at UCSF.
