Just a Boy, Just a Girl

Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 4:20 PM–5:50 PM PDT
Salon D
Workshop Description

My child will not talk about anything transgender. She just wants to be a girl. Integrating transgender identity into the core self is an important element of development, but for transgender youth who transition when they are young, this process seems to be especially difficult. Case examples will be presented for assistance in illuminating the “just a boy, just a girl” phenomenon. We will explore the role and function “just a boy, just a girl” has for transgender youth and offer strategies on ways parents and caregivers can support their child during this time in their development.
