
Paraprofessionals working with English Language Learners has become a common practice in Massachusetts schools, yet research has shown that they are not fully prepared for this role. We will present, ParaTell, a research based professional development program for paraprofessionals of ELLs and share our research findings on its effectiveness.

Heidi Perez is the Methuen Public Schools' LAD Supervisor. Formerly an ESL teacher and coach, she's worked with ELLs and teachers of ELLs for 20 years.
Qing Zhao is working as an instructor and the research project coordinator for PETALLs (Preparing Excellent Teachers for All Language Learners) at Umass Lowell.
Cynthia Bent is the Program Manager for PETALLs. She has many years of experience supporting ELLs in educational environments at the secondary and college levels.
