Abstract

Advocating for your counseling program is essential if you are to have a meaningful, comprehensive school counseling program.  Past GSCA Presidents and a former State Representative will share information including how to advocate with your principal, your teachers, community members, and state legislators.  Attendees will have opportunities to share their experiences/hesitancies in advocacy, and suggestions will be given as to how one can make such experiences more positive.  Handouts regarding advocacy will be distributed.

Presenters

Joyce Chandler, Retired school counselor and state representative
Dr. Jim Bergin, Ph.D, Georgia Southern University
Susan McCarthy, LPC, Atlanta Area Psychological Associates, PC
Janis Webb, Retired
