Abstract
JULAC Alma NZ API Proxy is a locally-developed application to answer JULAC's security concern with handling Alma NZ data by using the Alma API.
Individual JULAC libraries develop a local program using the API to automate their operations or enhance user services that connect with the Alma NZ for data. Depending only on an API key is not fully secure. Firstly, it cannot restrict assigned API key work only to a particular server and application. Secondly, an API key's permission for functional areas is too broad. It cannot be restricted to a particular data object. To resolve these concerns, an IP-controlled API proxy system was developed and implemented in October 2018 to secure API access to Alma NZ data only from authorized users and applications. Furthermore, it can restrict the number of API(s) call and use of API method(s) per application. The presentation will share how this system works and its features.
