Short Abstract

Japan has experienced depression for the last two decades. Work status and family structure have been changing in these twenty years. Many people have had a sense of anxiety. In such a circumstance we should set up a positive prospect for their lives. In this study, we investigate the view of people in Japan for  methods for treating their financial risk and retrieving their economic situation.

The study samples are 2156 people with ages ranging from 18 to 74. We picked up respondents who had experienced financial risks and analyzed the process in which the risks had been handled.

Results of multiple regression analysis showed that solving problems for the loss of income or income decline were positively related to household income and money management attitudes, and were negatively related to being in debt and having no advisory board. Solving problems for the unexpected drastic expenses were positively related to well-planned money management attitude, and were negatively related to having loan to tide them over. These results suggest that people should avoid having loan to cope with difficulties and acquire well-planned money management methods to retrieve the economic situation
