Abstract

Research show a rise of mental health needs in schools. Student’s mental health can pose barriers to social and emotional learning and educational development. Although the role of school counselors support academic, personal/social, and career development, counselor’s role continuously evolve based on needs of students. Counselors can be instrumental in bridging the gap between student and community resources. This presentation will provide a general overview of mental health challenges, strategies, and resources to support student needs.
