Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 8:45 AM–12:30 PM PDT add to calendar
Graham Hall - Room 163,164
Proposal Summary

In this half day session, we will review a variety of aspects in the field of group medical visits (GMV) used in underserved communities. GMV are a great opportunity to treat chronic illness, provide primary care in an efficient, cost effective, and empowering way. Group visits are often used as mechanisms to overcome barriers to health by providing support, shared knowledge, and access to integrative medicine and healing. We will show participants how to implement GMVs in ways that can support those participants most subject to the social determinants of health. We know that members of IM4US tend to work or be from such communities and will tailor our curriculum to this audience. We will have specific didactic focus on the Empowerment Model, Telemedicine use in GMV, and Centering Healthcare Institute initiatives. We will have a specific skill focus on group facilitation in underserved communities using an Empowerment Model, through Telemedicine, and through a Centering approach.
