In this interactive workshop, through a lens of love and respect we will examine within ourselves and in our world how privilege, power hierarchies and socio-cultural assumptions can affect our personal and professional relationships and work. Understanding our own privilege and power (for example in provider-patient relationships) helps us to avoid harming or hurting others. Dismantling barriers to inclusiveness is key to building partnerships in underserved communities, so that together we can create meaningful grounded solutions in health care.
We facilitated EDI workshops at 2 board retreats, Karen facilitated at past IM4Us conferences, and we would like to continue the EDI conversation at the conferences.
This session is appropriate for all audiences and skill levels
Equity, diversity, inclusion, privilege, power dynamics, hierarchies
Group Discussion/Working Groups: offer a forum and provide a framework for attendees to work in small groups to share experiences and identify best-practices in professional scenarios.
