Proposal Summary

Ayurveda is blessed with an abundance of simple, safe, and low or no-cost self-care practices and perspectives for creating a strong foundation of health. Currently these practices and perspectives have been popularized through books and other media but access and dissemination to underserved populations has been undeveloped. I will discuss the history of "barefoot Ayurveda", introduce a framework for Ayurveda lifestyle practices, and then describe and guide the audience through practices they can immediately use for themselves and the communities they serve.

Skills or Experience

I have been practicing TCM and Ayurveda clinically for 20 years and taught on the Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Lenox, MA for the last 11 years. The first six years of my clinical practice I did extensive non-profit work with family and professional caregivers in Santa Barbara, CA. primarily with Hospice and Visiting Nurses Association. Since then I have been in private clinical practice in Berkeley and want to be more active serving underserved.
