
During this interactive session participants will learn about key considerations when starting a program designed for SIFE including assessment, placement, and long-term planning for individual students. Participants will then dissasemble a thematic unit in order to discover salient characteristics of academic and social planning using Common Core and WIDA standards.

Avery Saulnier de Reyes is a teacher and reading specialist with Boston Public Schools. She has worked with adolescent SIFE for four of eight years.
Carmen M. Estrada-Carráu is a 21 year veteran Boston Public Schools teacher. She has dedicated her last 13 years to work with the SIFE population.
Cándida Mundo-Arboleda has been working with BPS for the last 27 years as an elementary teacher. She has been a SIFE teacher since 1996.
Rosa Meléndez has been an elementary school teacher at Boston Public Schools for six years with three of those years working with SIFE students.
Nina Lessin-Joseph directs a school’s ELL program in BPS. Her 10+ years of experience include teaching SIFE in the US and Central America.
