Spanish speaking Bostonians routinely interact not only with speakers of English but also with speakers of wide-ranging varieties of Spanish. The linguistic effects of such language and dialect contact are not yet understood. This talk aims to identify, assess, and understand intergenerational outcomes of linguistic contact through the lens of sociolinguistic theory and present a picture of an emerging Boston Spanish.
