Teaching Elementary ELLs to Read and Write Like Scientists

Session Abstract

This presentation will present the core elements to integrate science content into literacy interventions. These principles have been implemented successfully in a summer program for ELL, low-income elementary children. Results will be shared from this program—a partnership between a public elementary school and Salem State University.

Cami Condie was a primary grade teacher and literacy specialist for ELLs in Las Vegas and is now a Visiting Instructor at Salem State University.
