Short Description
The social and gerontological literatures on the quality of life find consistent evidence that financial satisfaction increases at older ages. While economic intuition may explain the age effect as a result of higher wealth accumulated and lower debt liability at older ages, there is an evidence of a "satisfaction paradox" which states that the positive association between aging and financial satisfaction is true even for the poor. This paper investigates whether individuals' subjective well-being with respect to financial satisfaction varies with age.
