F18: BCLTA & ABCPLD STREAM:: Session 3 – Public Library Governance: Action and resilient communities.
Session Description
Over the past few years, the Prince George Public Library (PGPL) has played a key role in responding to a number of serious challenges facing the community and region, including the impacts of homelessness and the opioid crisis. PGPL also provided support as a large number of evacuees sought refuge in Prince George during the wildfires in 2017 and 2018. Paul and Mike will highlight the library’s role in supporting the efforts of the municipality and in helping to build community resilience.
This session will have time for the sharing of stories, wise practices, and reflection on what it means for public libraries to be active in building resilient communities. This day of sessions with a focus on public library governance is hosted by the BC Library Trustees Association (BCLTA) and the Association of BC Public Library Directors. Drop by and meet BCLTA and ABCPLD staff and board members. Babs Kelly (BCLTA) and Andrea Freeman (ABCPLD) will be on hand to welcome everyone, facilitate activities and Q&As, and as the day progresses will hand out goodies and prizes as needed.
