Session Description

What do you do when you see a posting for a position that would challenge you in every way imaginable? Do you run for the hills, or race to put your name in the hat? In this session, Camille will share with the audience her experience in a year in the life as a public library Director. From interviewing for a management position, negotiating salary, and first days on the job, to change management, and advice to those considering taking a similar career leap, our speaker interest any student or young library professional!

With insights into the important projects on a Director’s plate, including annual reporting, strategic planning, and working with a Board and its various committees, come to this session to get a taste and see if Library Director is the job for you.

Speakers

Camille Ginnever
Biography

Camille graduated from Western University with her MLIS in 2019. Her professional affinities are torn between IT and libraries. She received her Bachelor of Science in mathematics from UNBC in 2016. She enjoys teaching French and learning Spanish. In her free time, she is probably playing Zelda or out cycling.
