Demonstrating Transformative Learning During the Conference Session

The more active students are in their learning, the more likely it is that they will retain knowledge. Service-learning projects compel students to become more active learners. Such projects offer unique opportunities for students to transform the knowledge they’ve gained through classroom experiences into purposeful learning experiences in their communities.

For this session, the panelists will share what they’ve learned – tricks, tips, and recommendations – about using service-learning projects as a teaching method in their courses. The panelists’ experiences include short-term and semester-long projects in traditional, hybrid, and online courses. Participants will be given an opportunity to explore ways in which they can incorporate service-learning opportunities into their courses.
