Conference Thread

Applying Transformative Learning in Teaching

This poster will reveal the ideas from a graduate research assistant on faculty learning communities while exploring teaching and learning through the understanding of neuroscience. It will discuss the background and definition of a professional learning community, what we are doing at the University of Central Oklahoma, and the strengths and weaknesses that we found throughout our experiences. Professional or faculty learning communities are successful in contributing to students' engagement and positive experiences, on and off campus. Not to mention, learning communities serve as a social place for faculty members across multiple disciplines to bring forth new concepts, teaching styles, and unique perspectives within the group. Do you have a learning community on campus? If not, then why not?
