Conference Thread

Expanding Transformative Learning Contexts

With grants from the Lumina Foundation, the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and the University of North Texas (UNT) will leverage the power of experiential learning and ePortfolio-based activities to create and provide evidence for transformative understandings. UCO’s and UNT’s programs will use this evidence to produce comprehensive, digital learner records that summarize the marketable skills and competencies that students have acquired through engagement in multiple transformative learning experiences. These student-owned, learner records will

• help students to articulate how multiple, transformative learning experiences have translated into marketable skills and competencies that make them more competitive on the job market
• help employers to identify—at a glance—students’ relevant skills and learning experiences and job-interview questions to ask based on the real-world contexts in which students acquired their skills
