Expanding Transformative Learning Contexts

Advocacy and awareness are topics that address diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency from an interdisciplinary perspective, inspiring many opportunities for transformative learning in the classroom, the workplace, and life. Understanding the advocacy process and developing the skills needed for advocacy can provide numerous benefits for students. Teaching students about advocacy provides many opportunities for projects that emphasize real-world application while at the same time assisting students in identifying the skills they have developed as part of their undergraduate experience. In this session, we would provide examples of classroom projects that include evaluating current advocacy and awareness programs through various social movements.
