Short Description
Recently the Idaho State Board of Education issued reports and convened workgroups to illustrate the need for highly trained instructors and well-prepared teachers to be developed due to the current status of the teacher pipeline in Idaho. Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) has implemented a competency-based pathway to address the urgent need for pathways that will provide school districts access to highly trained educators. The program is a cost-effective and time-efficient opportunity for schools/districts, and candidates that can lead to the best educational opportunities for students in Idaho.
This presentation will address the development and implementation of a mastery-based program to address these needs and how one core set of modules can be used to instruct and evaluate candidates using the INTASC Model Core Teaching Standards as a foundation.
Attendees will be provided a copy of the Alignment of INTASC Standards, and Danielson Frameworks for each pedagogical model as a framework for development of their own program.
