Short Description
The purpose of this presentation is to share how educator preparation program (EPP) partnerships with both K-12 school districts and institutions of higher education can be mutually beneficial. For the K-12 districts, the partnership offers opportunities to fill teaching positions with “home grown” teachers. Partnerships with colleges and universities have helped these institutions recruit new teacher candidates and increasing access to candidates interested in earning a master’s degree. Over the past three years, the University of West Florida TeacherReady has engaged in partnerships with small as well as large urban K-12 school districts and with both public and private higher education institutions. Presenters will share steps to creating partnerships; actions by EPP staff through the life-cycle of the candidate, from application through completion; partnership outcomes including early career success and increased access to teaching; and broadened professional development opportunities.
