Short Description
While the majority of teaching candidates are female and white, there are increasingly more alternative preparation programs that attract, support, and retain a more diversified pool of candidates. This presentation examines national trends and the national landscape of diversity in alternative teacher preparation. In addition, the presenters will highlight and discuss with participants practices and policies that support—or hinder—increasing the diversity of teacher candidates and supporting them throughout their programs. Participants will leave with key takeaways not only from the data and qualitative research, but gleaned from sharing, connecting and collaborating with one another.
