Short Description
Supervisors who typically mentor traditional student teachers may find themselves challenged with situations unique to new alt-cert teachers. As such, their roles may include mediator between teacher and principal/parents/fellow teachers, admissions counselor, big brother/sister/confidante, and navigator for a career field with vocabulary, processes, and protocols with which the new teacher has limited experience. How can supervisors best anticipate the needs of new alt-certs? Learn what field supervisors in Nebraska have to say about “upping their mentoring game” and providing the best possible support for the growing number of alt-cert teachers in their state.
