An introduction to the roots of TL learning theory and contemporary conceptualizations of TL

Transformative Learning or STLR at UCO has given me many opportunities in my education outside of the classroom. There are several STLR tenants that UCO emphasizes, and the ones I have had the most engagement with are global and cultural competencies, leadership, and research, creative, and scholarly activities.
Dr. Jessica Sheetz-Nguyen told me about the RCSA grant and UCO’s research programs, so I applied for the RCSA grant and enrolled in the London research course. I studied at the British Library, School of Oriental and African Studies, London Metropolitan Archives, and the Bodleian Library at Oxford. My research has been accepted f at the 2020 Asian Studies Development Program and 2020 Posters on the Hill. I have been told I am the first from UCO’s Liberal Arts college to be accepted at Posters on the Hill.
I attended UCO’s LeaderShape program, which involved six days of intensive training. This was an STLR event under leadership, and that experience helped me feel more confident in the importance of my research and leadership roles on campus.
I was accepted to be a GLA for the 2019-2020 school year, and it has impacted me in significant ways. It has made me evaluate what it means to be an American and an upstanding ambassador of this country.
STLR has expanded my horizons by funding research to be presented to members of Congress, making global friendships through GLA and cultural events, and improve myself personally through experiences like LeaderShape.
