Applying Transformative Learning in Teaching

This presentation will share how gamification with such features as badges, levels, and leader boards can be applied to a variety of my classes taught in English. Gamification as a term remains relatively new. Essentially, it applies gaming mechanics as a motivational tool. Gaming, however, is not required. I will also share some of the problems I have discovered while trying to apply gamification. In addition, I will also share some of the old school gaming aspects I have developed. The final aspect of this presentation will be to allow participants to reimagine their own classes as they apply gamification ideas. I welcome all disciplines and all types of classes, including teachers from STEEM. An outcome of gamification is that motivated students become better learners. Please bring a syllabi to share. Be prepared to rethink, reimagine, and possibly be rewarded as we apply gamification to your courses or lessons. I hope this becomes a movement and will gladly follow up and meet with faculty in the future! Handouts will be provided! Bring your questions.
