Abstract

Professional school counselors are uniquely positioned to advocate for students with disabilities (those with an IEP or 504 Plan) by collaborating with special educators, college disability support services offices, and parents/families to promote college readiness.  Session attendees will learn about the who, what, when, where, why, and how behind a large, demographically diverse, suburban high school’s first Transition to College event, coordinated by a high school counselor and the local school’s special education department.
