Abstract
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a clinically sound and ethical treatment for adolescents based on research. Dr. William Miller designed MI while working with clients suffering from substance abuse to solicit change talk empowering the clients to control their own lives. In a study of nine PSCs in middle and high school shared stories of their experiences using MI with their students. The results suggested MI is an effective technique for middle and high school students.
