Abstract

School counselors are trained in skills and theory, however they commit to daily tasks and duties which may prevent them from implementing counseling interventions in a traditional setting. School counselors also play an integral role in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches skills which may alleviate barriers to student success. This session addresses merging the Comprehensive School Counseling Program and MTSS while integrating DBT Skills training as a Tier 1 support.
