Abstract
Interactions between adults and students often escalate due to a lack of healthy relationships and de-escalation skills. This leads to social and emotional fires that school counselors are often called to put out. Preventing fires helps students become school, career, and life ready.
In this session, participants will learn tips on how to advocate for their role, an introduction to stress and trauma, de-escalation skills, and preventive initiatives for improving school behaviors and climate.
