Session Abstract

The outbreak of COVID-19 makes it critical and urgent for libraries to provide contactless services. The Library of Southern University of Science and Technology started providing 24-hour self-picking services for books reserved on Primo since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. This presentation shares with the audience how our library integrated the reservation lockers with Alma through APIs and SIP2 protocol to fulfill the circulation rules and processes of our library. The challenges include customizing the user interface and the system of the reservation locker, configuring the communications between the two systems, and adjusting the loading and picking-up processes in order to make it more convenient for librarians and patrons. The targeted audience of this presentation is Alma system administrators and fulfillment librarians.
