Publishing Alma Digital records to the Australian National Bibliographic Database
Conference or Developers' Day
Conference (20 minutes + 5 min Q/A)
Session Abstract
Alma’s Libraries Australia publishing profile does not support digital inventory. Contributing to the Australian National Bibliographic Database is important as a record of Australian digital collections. Importantly, it exposes unique local collections globally in Trove.
Through the ANZREG mail list interested Australian sites agreed to collaborate, approaching Ex Libris and Trove Collaborative Services (TCS) for a regional solution.
This presentation covers Alma’s general publishing profile and TCS’s OAI-PMH daily update. OAI-PMH is robust enough for sharing resource descriptions using various guidelines. Bond and RMIT Universities share their experiences as test contributors. Considerations for record preparation (bibs and representations) will be covered.
Although an Australian focus, there are lessons for institutions planning to use the general publishing profile and OAI-PMH to share their records (not just digital inventory) with other national/international databases.
