Making the most of Analytics for Evidence-Based Practice
Conference or Developers' Day
Conference (20 minutes + 5 min Q/A)
Session Abstract
Primo and Alma Analytics are powerful tools for data storage and analysis for Ex Libris library management systems. They have potential as a treasure trove of user engagement data to help fulfill the increasing demand for library staff to work within evidence-based practice frameworks, to provide justification for decision-making, and to prove value of services. But it can be a challenge to make best use of this potential, to understand the capabilities and limitations of the data and the platform, to navigate the twists and turns of known gaps, defect pitfalls and configuration mis-steps, and to simply find the time to explore the possibilities. This presentation will seek to help practitioners to overcome these hurdles, with sharing of challenges and successes, and examples of how the data has been used in practice at the University of Queensland Library.
