Optimising Primo's Database Search to showcase diverse library resources
Conference or Developers' Day
Conference (20 minutes + 5 min Q/A)
Session Abstract
The configuration of Primo’s Database Search, which allows users to browse categorised electronic resources, is best suited to database-type Alma electronic collections. The Renouvaud “Sciences et Patrimoines” network groups 44 academic and cultural libraries into one Alma Institution Zone and a single Primo view, and needed a more versatile tool allowing access to diverse resources available to distinct user groups. When implementing the Database Search as an alternative to various database lists and webpages, network librarians worked to create a multi-faceted portal including bibliographic databases, publisher platforms and reference works. In this session we will illustrate our vision for the Database Search, share the methodology we used to classify and organise our electronic collections, identify workarounds we developed and detail changes we made to our existing workflows in order to optimise the database search and make it work in a shared Alma and Primo environment.
