Session Abstract

Self service is used in banks, train stations super markets and almost everywhere.
Our goal is to extend and improve the library services by adding a self-service loan system.
In the industry, there are several commercial solutions for such a system but it is not always aligned with the needs and budget.
We, in the Technion library information systems, developed a self-loan system to answer the library needs.
The system is running on a touch screen and hosted in the cloud. The user needs to login and quickly scan the books in order to loan.
The loan is immediately verified and registered in Alma using REST API’s.
This customized cloud solution is open, and can be adopted by Alma libraries.
