Session Description

This session will include a moderator-led panel of HHW leaders and experts from across the state discussing the unique issues that the pandemic placed on them, their facilities, and their communities.  The unique issues and their innovative solutions have allowed them to resolve what appeared to be insurmountable problems.

Carlos Duque is the Environmental Specialist at the City of Elk Grove based in Elk Grove, California.  Carlos currently serves on a number of boards and committees, both local and statewide, related to HHW and waste management.

Speaker Biography

Courtney Scott has worked in HHW for almost 10 years. She began her career with the San Rafael Fire Department coordinating the Marin HHW Facility for five years in partnership with Marin Resource Recycling and Zero Waste Marin. Currently, she is the HHW Program Manager for Zero Waste Sonoma managing the HHW, e-waste, and OPP programs. She's been with Zero Waste Sonoma for almost five years and loves being part of an all-female agency.

Nate Pelczar joined the California Product Stewardship Council in 2018 and serves as a Special Projects Manager. He oversees a number of the organization’s projects related to household hazardous waste, producer responsibility, and product end-of-life management.
