Connecting the Dots to Develop an ESL Curriculum

Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:30 PM–3:15 PM EDT
Grande South
Session Abstract

ESL curriculum should be focused on language and requires a scope and sequence of English language development skills. How will we connect the dots and develop an ESL curriculum that integrates WIDA standards and aligned to the 2011 Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks?  How can English Language proficiency Benchmarks and Outcomes for English Language learners (ELPBO) published in June 2003 be used as a resource?  This presentation will inform the participants of the Department’s efforts to provide guidance regarding curriculum development and will clarify the state expectations  in order to ensure that  districts are in compliance with rules and regulations.
