Shannon Sauro is an associate professor in the Department of Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (USA). Her areas of research include the intersection of online fan practices and language learning and teaching, and the role of virtual exchange/telecollaboration in language teacher education.

Sara Clement is currently pursuing a MA TESOL at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her thesis research is exploring intercultural communicative competence development of teacher candidates through virtual exchange. Her future plans include teaching English as a foreign language and later pursuing a Ph.D. in Second Language Studies.
