Intercultural Outcomes: Lessons from a Decade of Faculty-Led Programs
Presentation Summary
This study of faculty-led programs examines programmatic variables, learner characteristics and pedagogical approaches to identify meaningful practices for supporting IC development. Implications for on-campus intercultural experiences will be shared in an effort to bring meaningful IC development to a broader audience of learners.

Allison Spenader is Professor of World Languages and ESL Education at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University in Minnesota. She enjoys designing and leading study abroad programs. Her scholarship focuses on IC development in study abroad, and on Critical Content-Based Instruction in World Language Classrooms.

Joy Ruis is an Assistant Director in the Center for Global Education with the College of Saint Benedict & St. John's University in Minnesota. She currently manages and develops a portfolio of semester and short-term program and serves as the lead in her office in areas of global internships and overall curriculum integration strategies. She has a Masters from University of Saint Thomas in Leadership in Student Affairs and is an IDI Qualified Administrator.

Professional Biography
Catherine Bohn-Gettler is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University in Minnesota, where she also serves as the faculty Director of Assessment. Her scholarship focuses on enhancing equity and learning through understanding how cognition and emotion interact. Dr. Bohn-Gettler is Editor-in-Chief for the journal, Discourse Processes. She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota.
