This paper analyzes how two elementary Arabic textbooks that folow the integrated approach (Standard with the dialects) represent the common speech acts in the Egyptian Arabic (EA) component of their content. The paper akso offers the results of an intervention that aimed at enhancing the pragmatic competence in L2 Arabic.

Dr. Ayman Mohamed is Assistant Professor of Arabic at MSU. He teaches Arabic courses and coordinates the elementary Arabic sections. He has taught courses in integrated humanities focusing on modern Egypt and Arabic culture and literature.
