Increasing Student Research Outcomes with Gale Primary Sources Learning Centers

Abstract

For instructors and librarians, Learning Centers are all-in-one instructional resource centers that help students familiarize themselves with a primary source database. Tailored to specific Gale Primary Sources archives, Learning Centers include key topics, sample searches, case studies, and contextual materials. They are organized in four key workflow steps based on the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the learning objectives outlined in the Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy from the Society of American Archivists (SAA): conceptualize, find, read, and use. Each workflow section features detailed instructional content.

 

Gale has been introducing Learning Centers to the Gale Primary Sources platform from October 2021. With this new resource, students and instructors will receive added benefits while using primary sources in their research and in the classroom. Built with the student researcher in mind, Learning Centers help:
