Mayor of Oceanside

On Thursday, September 8, we will have Mayor Esther Sanchezcome welcome the CRRA to the City of Oceanside. Mayor Esther Sanchez was first elected to the Oceanside City Council on November 7, 2000, her initial run for local office. She was elected Councilmember in District 1 in November 2018, the City's first District Election.  She was elected Mayor in November 2020. Mayor Sanchez was born and raised in Oceanside, part of a four-generation Oceanside family.

Founder and Executive Director

Heidi Sanborn will be a part of our keynote, to discuss what is happening at the California Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets and Curbside Recycling. Ms. Sanborn is the Founder of the National Stewardship Action Council and has served as its Executive Director since 2015. She is also the founding Director of the California Product Stewardship Council where she has served for 12 years. These nonprofits are dedicated to reducing waste, increasing recycling and advocating for a circular economy. She was appointed by State Treasurer Fiona Ma to the Green Bond Market Development Committee in 2019 tasked with efficiently raising billions of dollars in new and affordable capital to build climate-friendly infrastructure. She also was appointed by CalEPA to serve on the Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets and Curbside Recycling in June of 2020 and was elected Chair.  The voluntary Commission submitted 34 policy recommendations to the California Legislature, with full consensus votes in its first 18 months, resulting in numerous bills passing in 2021 that were groundbreaking for the field.

Evan Edgar (Edgar & Associates) will moderate a panel on Green House Gas and Energy, what does California have in store for us? Evan is the master of pulling an engaging panel of speakers together, and integrating conversation and questions from the audience. This will include panelists, Frank Ferral (President & CEO of the Hayward Chamber), Julia Levin (Bio Energy Association of California), and Eugene Tseng (E. Tseng & Associates).
