Session Abstract

The Austrian Library Network (ALN) uses Ex Libris products for over 23 years, starting with Aleph and later on Alephino. Growing lacks of functionality and not up to date technology initiated a big migration project to a new generation system years ago. The whole project including budgeting had to be organised internally by the consortial office and participants until the implementation under the challenging constraint to change from a fully functional infrastructure including a central catalogue database to a similar environment without loss of functionality during the whole process. The presentation gives a high level overview of about 10 years of challenges, surprises and final success including important marks like initial internal organization, formal tender process, additional conceptions, implementation step by step until the shutdown of our last Aleph systems in early 2022.
