Session Abstract
In 2018 Library and Learning Services at the University of Surrey launched the Student Curator Project - a collaborative student-staff partnership project based around the collections and resources in the Library. The motivation is to celebrate diversity and inclusion at Surrey and to expand and showcase the diversity of Library collections. The initiative aims to encourage, and celebrate the diversity of our student population and the Library’s collections, whilst at the same time empowering students financially, creatively, and intellectually, and developing real world skills such as project, budgetary, and team management. Leganto is used as a key promotional tool. Themes covered have been Black History Month, LGBT+ History Month, Invisible Disability, Talking about Mental Health, Healthy Learning, Life as I know it, Colourism, Working Class Voices and Navigating Neurodiversity. This presentation will include interviews and reflections from some of the Student Curators.
