Marathon and a Sprint: moving to Leganto at the University of Leeds
Physical/Virtual?
Physical session (+ live streaming with Zoom)
Session Abstract
Throughout 2021/22, the Acquisitions & Reading Lists Team along with key colleagues in IT at the University of Leeds undertook the huge challenge of bidding goodbye to a well-established in-house reading lists system and moving to Leganto. Unusually our key driver wasn’t an obsolete or poor performing system forcing us into the migration, a change of software elsewhere in the University created the enforced change. We’ll reflect on why working to a unique timetable and working concurrently with a related but separate IT implementation project was a blessing and a curse, share experiences of how we approached workflow development, and illustrate what happens when you migrate 4,500 reading lists between contrasting systems. We’ll share tips and expand on the challenges faced during the work and also celebrate the role that the Leganto community has played in facilitating the project.
