Session Abstract

The University of Arizona Libraries, a large academic research library in Tucson, AZ, has been an “e-preferred library” for well over a decade. Though this set us up well for pivoting to meet new and emerging needs and expectations in our new normal, it also has meant a lot of continued rethinking of how we provide access to information. In this session we will talk about how our changing collections vision to one less about ownership (unless critical to our mission) to an emphasis on access represents a shift for us as an academic research library. As a result, we have embraced new technologies and integrations. During this session, we’ll talk about Primo integrations that expand access to content such as the Internet Archive’s Open Library and Article Galaxy Scholar as methods to open up more content to our patrons. Attendees will leave with ideas for expanding access to unowned and unsubscribed content in our new normal of online preference amid constrained budgets.
