This presentation will look at the Indigenous Authors Collection at the University of Calgary in Canada. This collection is an example of a decolonization effort that aligns with the institution's Indigenous strategy. This project involved enhancing the Indigenous collection with the addition of more Canadian Indigenous authors and providing culturally appropriate metadata to increase visibility and access in the libraries' catalogue (Alma/Primo). The presenters will discuss the problems they faced with the current metadata standards, enhancements made, as well as the implications to cataloguing policies and workflow for other collections. The presenters will also demonstrate how their changes are viewed and accessed by users and show new ways that users can interact with the collection. As well as exploring future opportunities with local authorities and linked data.
