Session Abstract

VCUarts Qatar Libraries as part of its initiative to improve the Serial Control Process decided to use the Alma' prediction pattern support. Prediction patterns are used to create Serial items in advance for receiving and claiming purposes based on a prediction template or by manually entering captions and patterns. For every minute you spend on organizing something, you will save time in the long term. While it does take some time at the front end, the time you gain in the long term will be worth it. The same goes with the process of creating prediction patterns in Alma. Prediction patterns allow users to track and predict future items and help to save staff’s time on receiving and claiming. Prediction pattern once created can keep predicting the expected items for the following years unless there is a change in the publication. This case study will outline the advantages and challenges of using preditction patterns and some examples of prediction patterns for irregular subscriptions.
