Session Abstract

In November 2021 the National Library of Scotland took a new approach to systems librarianship and the administration of the primary library management systems – Alma and Primo. A systems team was created that would allow the library to take a more incremental and adaptive approach to systems development. The three-person team would individually have areas to champion (users, data and training/integration) but would work collectively using an Agile methodology.

This 15 minute presentation will look at how the team has established itself over the last six months and provide a short case study focussed on one of the more significant challenges to appear in this time period; automating the creation of item records for multi-volume works within Alma. This crucial development allowed for 8,000 works to be prepared for inclusion in a mass digitisation project that the National Library is participating in.
